Benny Joy est un artiste dont on peut se demander toujours pourquoi il est fait si peu mention hors des frontières du Rockabilly. Voilà pourtant bien un parcours qui mérite de s'aventurer au-delà d'un style ou d'une époque. Ceux qui en conviendront à l'écoute de ce disque peuvent se fendre sans la moindre hésitation du très beau coffret que vient de lui consacrer le label Norton et qui, outre les titres connus, propose de rares interprétations, et en particulier de superbes home-recordings!The music of Benny Joy is raw and infectious. Un grand merci pour cette jolie perle! Je ne connaissais Benny Joy que par l'intermédiaire des compiles Nasty Rockabilly, et ça fait vraiment plaisir de redécouvrir entièrement un wild man complètement passé à la trappe. Ace Records assure vraiment pour ce boulot, et ça donne enfin envie d'acheter des CD (quoique surement introuvable dans les Fnac, Virgin et autres soumis des majors).
Comme expliqué dans le billet, je conseille FORTEMENT le coffret Norton (dispo en 3 cds ou 5 lps)...
