Pere Ubu - Ubu Unchained

Sur ce pirate sont réunis deux enregistrements historiques réalisés à l'Agora de Cleveland par Rocket From The Tombs (en 1975) et Pere Ubu (en 1976), soit deux des plus extraordinaires formations qu'ait connu la scène locale, véritable quatrième dimension du rock à cette époque...

Punk has to be seen in a far wider context than
just a bunch of pub rock bands. It had far deeper
roots and anti-culture roots than it admits to.

Thank you, Pere Ubu used to play The Pirates Cove on a Monday or Tuesday, then they moved to Thursday nights. Poly Styrene, Lucky Pierre, Destroy All Monsters often shared the bill. Crocus Behemoth would beat a small anvil and sing "out in the real word" when they sang Street Waves it was perfect as I lived on E.55th and Fleet and worked at Republic Steel in the flats. The music reflected a reality that you will never, ever, know.

Pere Ubu est réellement l'un des groupes les plus fascinants que je connaisse. Je les ai vus en concert il y a euh..., longtemps, comme un passage dans une autre dimension, avec ce personnage imposant (euphémisme) de David Thomas semblant littéralement flotter sur scène, sorte de fil-de-ferriste moite (je n'ai jamais vu quelqu'un transpirer autant que lui, il sue même des genoux !) entouré d'un aréopage étonnant, entre un synthé "à l'ancienne", deux batteries et un guitariste tatoué au look de fort des halles.
Et ces chansons ! Un très très grand groupe, injustement mais logiquement méconnu (c'est quand même pas super-accessible comme musique...).
Bref, merci pour le partage de ces perles d'eux que je ne connaissais pas.

Once a frind told me about Rocket From the Tombs, and after that i search for few songs...now it came in this punk record from pere ubu's early days......
Great record man.

I really enjoyed it.
